PPP2: Contacting Studio- Unit

Early in the month, Emily Grace and myself decided to try and contact the design studio Robot Food as a group to see about a visit but so far, this has not happened.

From this, me and Emily decided to try somewhere else to see if we would be able to get a visit from a different studio.

When looking online for possible studios to visit, I came across Leeds based Design Studio Unit. Some of there work is vector based with lots of examples of Product and Packaging and Brand and Identity, the areas I like to work in.

I like the work for Colours May Vary and Ways of Looking because they are very distinctive and bold brand identities which are driven by a key vector logo and a range of collateral. This reminds me of the style that I work in and like doing, especially through the illustrative essence of Ways of Looking, so I feel this would be quite relevant to my design.

I mentioned them to Emily and she informed me that she has looked at their work before and she was thinking herself of contacting them.

Email sent to Unit
We decided that, in a similar vain to Robot Food, we would message them together and use a link to our Behance Online Portfolios. We mentioned the fact that we like their work and would like to see how a design studio runs in real life for some first experience for ourselves.

We soon got a reply to our enquiry from Si of UNIT.

Unfortunatly, we were turned down for a visit based on the fact that our students have asked before us and they have either been late or not turned up. It is such a shame that we have to suffer and not get the chance because other people have let the studio down. They give students like us a bad name.

We were disappointed by this outcome but we felt that it was important for Si to get the right impression that we are committed and appreciative students so Emily came up with the idea of sending him some questions we would have asked. I felt that this was a great idea because then we get the chance to ask him what we would have asked in the visit whilst showing how we are serious we are about this.
Questions
We came up with some questions that we both wanted answering and hopefully, we will get a reply. We still want to take this opportunity while we have his attention.
